Lower School Spanish Teacher - Long-term Substitute

Germantown Friends School is seeking a full-time, long-term substitute Spanish teacher to teach in the Lower School (Kindergarten through 3rd grade). The ideal candidate has experience teaching elementary school students using immersion methods such as Comprehensible Input and Storytelling techniques. We are seeking a professional teacher with exceptional language skills as well as a deep knowledge of and enthusiasm for the various Hispanic and Latino cultures. Candidates should enjoy teaching curious, active, thoughtful children and working collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in the development and acquisition of the Spanish language through the school-developed curriculum.
  • Provide supervision of students according to the Lower School schedule.
  • Participate in Student Support Team meetings as needed, collaborating to ensure continued attention to the changing needs of individual students.
  • Attend all core, departmental, divisional, and all-school meetings.
  • Meet regularly with school leaders as requested to discuss teaching work with students.
  • Follow school-adopted assessments and procedures including narrative writing for formal reporting periods.
  • Participate in parent conferences and meetings as appropriate.
  • Attend Meeting for Worship once a week.
  • Regularly participate in school-supported professional development in the areas of teaching content, pedagogy, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Participate in the life of the GFS community through collegial behavior and involvement with committee work.
