Position Overview

As a Low Voltage Technician, you will diagnose, service, and install fire alarm and low-voltage systems across various commercial settings. You will use detailed documentation, system schematics, and diagnostic tools to deliver efficient, reliable solutions while maintaining high standards of organization and quality.

This role requires independence, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely in physically demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to customer service calls promptly and professionally
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace system wiring, field devices, and head-end components
  • Read and interpret red-lined drawings, system schematics, and manufacturer manuals
  • Utilize diagnostic tools including multimeters, toner/wand, system computers, and laptops
  • Perform CAT6 and CAT5 terminations, RJ-45 punch downs, and cable management
  • Install cameras, speakers, security devices, and access control components
  • Perform cable tray and ladder rack installations
  • Organize and maintain network rooms and equipment racks
  • Deliver clean, precise, and well-documented workmanship on every project

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong self-motivation with a professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Proven skill in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and service documentation
  • Solid critical-thinking and troubleshooting abilities
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move objects up to 75 pounds

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in low-voltage systems, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge
  • Experience in AV, security systems, access control, or structured cabling
  • Commercial installation experience
  • Experience pulling cable and completing device trim
  • Network rack installations and wireless access point deployment
  • Strong knowledge of CAT6/CAT5 terminations, security cameras, and access control systems
  • Experience with cable trays, ladder racks, and network room builds
  • OSHA 10 certification is required

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays
  • Technicians meet at the office and travel to job sites in a company vehicle with a lead technician
  • Work includes significant walking, lifting, and work at heights of 30 feet or more using lifts
  • Job sites include commercial buildings, hospitals, offices, warehouses, data centers, and retail spaces

Employees should be prepared for physically demanding work and are encouraged to use appropriate footwear support and maintain hydration throughout the day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
