Role Overview


We have a great opportunity for someone to join us as a Logistics Specialist, responsible for coordinating and managing daily logistics operations across multiple Westway plants. The role will oversee inbound ingredients, outbound shipments and plant-to-plant transfers, acting as the central point of contact for internal teams and external carriers to ensure efficient, timely and accurate movement of goods. This position plays a key role in maintaining freight data accuracy, resolving shipment issues and supporting carrier performance while driving continuous improvement in logistics processes and service delivery.


Westway Feed Products is North America’s largest manufacturer of liquid supplements for livestock. Additionally, we produce feed mill products, dried molasses and industrial products. The core concept of Westway’s business is to utilize co-products from other industries and convert them into safe, high-quality, cost effective, livestock feed supplements. While Westway’s primary ingredient for many of our products is molasses, we also incorporate other co-products. The concept of utilizing these co-products is the foundation of our sustainability platform. Today, Westway operates 22 production facilities across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Our geographic reach allows for products to be developed according to environmental and production system variations across the country.


We are part of ED&F Man Commodities, a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.


This position will be based from our headquarters office in The Woodlands, Texas



Key Accountabilities:


  • Coordinate daily logistics operations across multiple Westway plants, ensuring timely and accurate movement of inbound ingredients, outbound shipments and plant transfers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, drivers and internal teams including sales, customer service, purchasing, billing, inventory and operations.
  • Create and manage shipping and receiving schedules, proactively communicating updates and resolving conflicts.
  • Track shipments, provide ETAs and follow up on missed appointments with clear action plans.
  • Manage backhauls, round trips and reloads to optimise transportation efficiency.
  • Assign carriers and services in D365, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with company requirements.
  • Share daily schedules in advance and provide shipment recaps including preloads and missed pickups.
  • Provide freight rates, mileage and fuel surcharge information to support sales and purchasing decisions.
  • Communicate delivery instructions, production delays and scheduling updates to ensure smooth operations.
  • Review and resolve freight invoice variances, including demurrage and detention issues, through identifying root causes.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships and support onboarding of new partners.
  • Select carriers based on service quality and cost efficiency aligned with logistics strategy.
  • Maintain accurate carrier documentation in Trace Gains and ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs and enhance service performance.


Skills and Experience:


  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, production or operations planning.
  • Strong understanding of freight coordination, carrier management and shipping documentation.
  • Experience supporting logistics across multiple plant or site locations.
  • APICS CLTD certification preferred or willingness to obtain within two years.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across internal teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in logistics systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Experience with Trace Gains or similar carrier compliance systems is desirable.
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve operational challenges quickly.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills in managing schedules and logistics data.
  • Ability to build effective relationships while balancing service, cost and operational priorities.
  • Adaptable and proactive with the ability to manage changing demands and identify improvement opportunities.
