  • The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles AFB, CA is searching for a Logistics Management Specialist to support SYD 89/S4 (NH-0346-03, GS 12/13 equivalent). Description: SYD 89 provides Space centered systems that support worldwide DoD/DoW warfighting operations, activities, and interests in order to promote regional security and stability. Our programs utilize cutting edge technology aimed at supporting our Nation's national defense objectives. This employee will provide Acquisitions Logistics/Product Support expertise to our programs in order to ensure taxpayer resources are spent efficiently with maximum value and agility to meet warfighter needs. Duty requires subject matter expertise of Department of Defense (DOD) logistics and product support enterprise. Organizes and presents oral, both prepared and extemporaneous, and written documentation for senior United States Space Force (USSF) leadership consideration and decision regarding sustainment, logistics, and mission support of USSF assets. Ideal Candidate: Knowledge of the United States Space Force mission, roles, functions, and organizational structures of the DOD. Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve highly complex logistical and acquisition challenges, with in-depth knowledge of Space Force and Department of Defense (DOD) acquisitions Logistics/Product Support policies, processes, and practices. Expertise in analyzing operational data to drive informed decision-making and sustainment solutions. Proven experience in working with multiple team members, fostering a collaborative environment, and providing authoritative, strategic advice to senior leadership to influence organizational goals. Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate logistics management operations and activities to develop, prepare, coordinate, staff, and implement policies, procedures, programs, and directives. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and policy-related information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, team members, and external stakeholders. Represents the Product Support Acquisition & Sustainment Branch Chief with assigned programs. Plans, organizes, and oversees the product support planning and management activities of acquisition and sustainment for our developing programs. extensive proficiency in developing, assessing, and refining logistics and acquisition policies, procedures, and sustainment strategies. Capable of implementing innovative approaches to address mission-critical challenges at a high organizational level. Comprehensive understanding of logistics information systems, including their design, application, and role in enabling modernization and integration efforts. Skilled in assessing system capabilities and aligning them with long-term operational goals. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Thorough knowledge of the functions required for providing depot support to a weapons system. 2. Detailed knowledge of related sustainment and acquisition fields including financial, budgeting and contracting and their relationships to the systems/equipment lifecycle. 3. Knowledge of system sustainment functions throughout any acquisition milestone or phase. 4. Knowledge of defense acquisition/sustainment policies and procedures dealing with systems planning, research, development, and logistics. 5. Knowledge of the contract management and evaluation processes to manage all aspects of a major modification or upgrade. 6. Knowledge of the budget to develop funding inputs for program upgrades and depot maintenance tasks. Must be able to make realistic cost trade off recommendations. 7. Skill in identifying system acquisition or sustainment problems and developing innovative solutions to correct them. 8. Ability to gather and analyze a variety of information pertaining to identifying and correcting systems issues and negative trends. 9. Ability to make sound judgments concerning program sustainment and develop realistic technical and funding recommendations. 10. Ability to organize and lead special study teams and task forces with members from different organizations and commands. 11. Ability to identify and manage the various skills and expertise required to support an operational weapons system. 12. Ability to organize and reprioritize work to meet changing deadlines. Effectively communicates task to members of teams and assigns them based upon each member's skills and abilities. 13. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases. Gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
