Local Backhoe Operator Needed for New Construction Site

this is a local role, there will be no per diem

MUST HAVE recent experience and active Driver's License

Job Description:

This role involves safely operating a backhoe on a new construction site to support underground electric phase work, including digging, loading, trenching, and grading. You will work in a busy, safety-focused environment where clear communication and constant awareness of your surroundings are essential.

Essential Skills:

  • Recent, hands-on experience operating a backhoe on a new construction site.
  • Proficient backhoe operation skills, including digging, loading, trenching, and grading.
  • Strong equipment operation skills with the ability to steer and control heavy machinery safely.
  • Ability to work safely around underground utilities, particularly in support of underground electric phase work.
  • Excellent situational awareness and attention to detail in a busy construction environment.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate with crew members and supervisors.
  • Commitment to following strict safety protocols and site procedures.
  • Ability to maintain focus and operate equipment without distraction.
  • Experience working on large, open construction sites with multiple active crews.
  • Familiarity with general construction site practices and workflows.
  • Demonstrated history of professional behavior and adherence to a site code of conduct.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with other trades and site personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a backhoe on a new construction site to support underground electric phase work.
  • Perform precise digging, trenching, loading, and grading activities according to project specifications.
  • Steer and maneuver the backhoe safely in a dynamic construction environment with multiple ongoing activities.
  • Inspect equipment before and after use and report any issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow all site safety protocols and procedures without exception.
  • Maintain constant awareness of surroundings to avoid hazards and protect coworkers, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Communicate clearly with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate work and ensure efficient operations.
  • Adhere to the site code of conduct, demonstrating professional behavior at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in line with site expectations.
  • Avoid distracted operation of equipment and remain fully focused while operating the backhoe.

This is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
