Business Analyst II – Deal Closing & Monitoring (Financial Risk)

Our client, a leading global corporate and investment bank, is seeking a Business Analyst II to join their Deal Closing & Monitoring team within Financial Operations. This is a high-impact, middle office role supporting the full lifecycle of complex lending transactions across multiple business lines.
This opportunity offers strong exposure to front office, risk, and legal teams, with the potential to convert to a full-time position.
Work Schedule
Hybrid: 3 days onsite in Midtown Manhattan, 2 days remote
In line with company policy (including select Mondays and Fridays onsite)
Position Overview
This role sits at the center of the loan lifecycle, ensuring that transactions are accurately executed, properly booked, and actively monitored from closing through repayment. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of credit products, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deals in a fast-paced environment.
You will act as a key liaison between front office, operations, risk, and clients to ensure seamless execution and ongoing compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Closing & Execution
- Support pre-closing and closing activities for new credit facilities
- Review credit agreements and validate alignment with approved terms
- Ensure all conditions precedent (CPs) are satisfied prior to funding
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate deal booking in Loan IQ
Portfolio Monitoring & Lifecycle Management
- Manage a portfolio of loan transactions from closing through termination
- Monitor borrower compliance with financial and reporting covenants
- Track collateral positions and ensure timely updates and valuations
- Support amendments, waivers, and restructurings as needed
Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Identify and escalate covenant breaches or potential risk issues
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements
- Support collateral reporting and ongoing risk control processes
Operations & Coordination
- Partner cross-functionally with Front Office, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams
- Maintain accurate records, reconciliations, and funding activity tracking
- Assist with process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
- Communicate directly with clients to support financing requests and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lending, loan operations, or credit support within a bank or financial institution
- Strong understanding of loan products, credit agreements, and financial statements
- Experience with loan lifecycle processes (closing, booking, monitoring)
- Familiarity with Loan IQ or similar loan systems strongly preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
