Job Description

This role combines general labor and light carpentry support in a clean, organized shop environment. You will help load and secure materials for transport, operate basic material-handling equipment, and assist with woodworking processes such as cutting, machining, sanding, and wrapping finished products. The position requires safe handling of heavy materials, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Clean out box trucks and prepare them for loading.
• Review the manifest and any additional paperwork to ensure products are loaded in the correct order.
• Locate materials and use a pallet jack to move them to the truck loading area.
• Scan materials and manually load them into box trucks, including double-stacking stairs when appropriate.
• Safely handle and load materials such as stairs (180–480 lbs), rails (around 40 lbs), and cabinets (30–210 lbs), lifting up to 75 lbs independently and using team lifts for heavier items.
• Secure all materials properly for safe transit.
• Shuttle box trucks on the property when holding a valid DOT card, as needed.
• Assist with unloading cabinets in receiving when required.
• Support delivery teams as a helper on deliveries when needed.
• Perform occasional maintenance on box trucks, such as addressing lights or leaks, using a scissor lift once certified.
• Operate various woodworking machinery in the shop under established safety guidelines.
• Cut and machine components for various departments according to specifications.
• Plane rough lumber to prepare it for additional processes.
• Rip material to size to prepare it for further processing.
• Glue up previously prepared materials for assembly or finishing.
• Use a wide belt sander to sand finished materials to the required quality standard.
• Stretch-wrap and label completed orders for shipment or storage.
• Accurately enter completed and used components into the inventory system.
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely around the facility.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards throughout the shift.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies while maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production and operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in general labor or carpentry-related work.
• Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs independently and participate in team lifts for heavier materials.
• Capability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Good problem-solving skills to address daily operational and material-handling tasks.
• Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to work efficiently in a self-managed environment with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Carpentry experience or exposure to woodworking processes.
• General labor experience in a production, warehouse, or shop environment.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials.
• Comfort operating woodworking machinery such as planers, rip saws, and sanders.
• Ability or willingness to obtain a scissor lift certification through company-provided training.
• Possession of a DOT card is a plus and may be used to shuttle box trucks on the property.
• Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train in multiple areas of the shop.

Work Environment

The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., providing a consistent daytime workweek. The shop is very clean, and employees are expected to clean their work area both before and at the end of each day. The environment is production-oriented yet respectful and supportive, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and teamwork. Work involves regular use of pallet jacks, forklifts, and woodworking machinery in an indoor shop setting, along with occasional use of a scissor lift once certified.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Chambersburg,PA.
