The Outreach Librarian plans, promotes, and implements programs, services, and outreach in collaboration with community partners – bringing the mobile library to wherever there is a gathering of people, traveling to community spaces, strengthening and building our community, and engaging people with positive and empowering experiences while improving our citizens' ability to connect, explore, and grow.

Oversee and facilitate the operations and services of the Library to Gomobile library unit, identifying areas of need and partnering in the community to develop, publicize, and implement a robust program of library services and resources, while maintaining a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive environment.
Provideexcellent customer service and engaging hands-on experiences in a mobile version of the library: register citizens for library cards, provide materials to checkout, provide digital services demonstrations, and training.
Actively engages with the community by driving the Library to Go mobile unit to community events and to traditionally underserved audiences, including targeted neighborhoods, low-income housing communities, early learning organizations, school sites, assisted living facilities, and other community human services agencies.
Serve as ambassador for the library, sharing information about library services and programming in the community, including early learning story times, STEAM, information and digital literacy, and job/career services.
Actively maintain and enhance the Library to Go collection by selecting new resources, conducting collection assessments, and evaluating materials for potential deselection.
Work closely with the library's Community Engagement Specialist to collaborate and communicate with a wide variety of individuals, including library staff, Friends of the Library, City and County agencies, and community stakeholders, to developand implement strategies that effectively engage the entire community with the Library to Go.

Administer surveysand prepare statistics and reports related toLibrary to Go services, demonstrating successful achievement of library outcomes.
Supervise, train, coach, and provide safety instructionforstaff working on the Library to Go.
Master's degree in Library Science (ALA-accredited preferred) and 2 years of professional library experience, preferably in a public library
A valid driver's license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position)
NC Public Librarian Certification (may obtain following hire)
Willingness to flex 40-hour work week across days, evenings, and weekends as needed and vary the work schedule according to community needs
Ability and willingness to complete the County's defensive driving course and safely operate a large vehicle (23 ft Sprinter Van), including driving to all parts of Catawba County
Position is considered medium duty, lifting up to 45 pounds on a regular basis
Ability to push, pull, lift, carry, and otherwise move books, furniture, and equipment by hand, basket, or cart, as well as climb, bend, reach above one's head, and stand for lengthy periods of time
