Liberal Arts Program Coordinator - English Faculty

The Liberal Arts Program Coordinator is a 12-month faculty position. The incumbent manages all aspects of the Associates of Arts and certificate programs in Liberal Arts, and supervises Communications courses under the direction of the School of Professional Studies and University Transfer and the Humanities Division. The position is responsible for administrative tasks and an instructional load.


The Program Coordinator is responsible for all administrative functions for the program which include, but are not limited to:

  • Orientation of new students in the major
  • Academic advisement of students in the major
  • Selection, scheduling, and support of Communications faculty
  • Oversight and management of the Liberal Arts program and Communications curriculum
  • Selection of course textbooks and instructional materials for Communications courses
  • Scheduling Communications courses
  • Assessment of student learning
  • Supervision of the Peer Tutoring Program
  • Completion of institutional and state-level program reports
  • Collaboration with college and university transfer partners
  • Participation on institutional faculty committees
  • Completion of all required training and development activities
  • Maintaining open office hours of at least 10 per week, with extended hours during academic advisement and final exam periods
  • Leading the Liberal Arts Advisory Committee
  • Participating in recognition and enrollment/admissions events to support student and faculty engagement.
  • Instruction of 24 credit hours annually

Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor, in accordance with policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the school’s Guidelines for the Administration of Faculty Workload.

Education

  • Master’s degree or higher in English or subfield, or
  • Master’s degree or higher in a discipline or subfield other than that which he/she is teaching, and has completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the English or subfield in which he/she teaches.

Experience

  • 1-3 years Teaching and/or Training experience
  • 1-3 years Industry experience
  • 1-2 years Project Coordination experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
  • Excellent teamwork skills: skilled at collaborating with all areas of the College in a positive manner that supports diversity and a respectful workplace.
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting and analyzing diverse data;knowledge of how to enter, monitor, and interpret student data accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of rapid growth and change. Ability to work independently with minimal clerical support.
  • Knowledgeable in use of Word and Excel (intermediate level).
  • Understanding of the organization of public higher education systems.
  • Familiarity with issues faced by community college students, especially in rural settings.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to following all College policies and procedures.

All faculty positions are lecturer rank with temporary classification at entry.
