Legal Secretary (Commercial Litigation) Word Processing & Billing
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant (Commercial Litigation) onsite in Red Bank, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of experience in commercial litigation with a background in Word Processing and Billing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting attorneys in this area of litigation, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative in a fast-paced legal environment.
This full-time position requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who thrives in a team-oriented, client-focused setting and is comfortable navigating evolving technology and legal processes.
Responsibilities
Legal & Administrative Support
- Draft, format, edit, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, agreements, and correspondence
- Prepare and manage Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities (TOC/TOA)
- Perform electronic filing (e-filing) in both New Jersey state and federal courts (required)
- Support attorneys with heavy motion practice
- Maintain and organize case files, including document management and clean-up of existing files
- Perform Bates stamping and ensure proper document version control
- Manage sensitive client and firm information with a high level of confidentiality
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and ethical standards
Billing & Bookkeeping
- Manage attorney time entry and billing using TimePro (or similar systems)
- Process time slips and assist with billing attorney time requirements
- Handle accounts payable and receivable
- Perform bank reconciliations for operating and trust accounts
- Assist with payroll processing and coordinate with external vendors and accountants
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial processes
- Liaise with legal vendors and service providers
Qualifications
- Commercial litigation experience required
- Strong experience with New Jersey state and federal court e-filing
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (legal formatting essential) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with document management systems and billing software (TimePro preferred)
- Familiarity with bookkeeping functions and financial processes
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and pivot as priorities change
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- High school diploma required; relevant experience prioritized over formal education
Compensation
This posting is a representative sample of the types of roles we typically place with our clients. Depending on the specific client, location, and role, the salary range is estimated to be $70,000 to $85,000.00 annually.
