Job DescriptionThe Brink's Company is looking for a Legal Operations Manager. This position will work closely with our General Counsel, Legal Leadership Team and Senior Director of Legal Operations to innovate, automate and solve problems with technology and provide strategic direction to ensure a disciplined, efficient and effective global legal function.
This position will require an experienced legal operations professional with a proven track record of effective project/program management, improving cost management (including outside counsel spend), implementing policies that fit business and departmental needs while minimizing risk, and managing firm/vendor relationships.
Primary responsibilities:- Supervise the Legal Operations Analyst providing performance evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and document department processes, policies, and workflows to increase efficiency, reduce risk, ensure compliance, and align with best practices.
- Develop and implement appropriate metrics and benchmarking through data analytics to measure and report on the Legal Team's performance both within and outside the department that will better inform decision-making.
- Participate in internal and cross-functional workgroups (including sales, IT, HR and finance).
- Manage the annual budgeting process for the department, produce monthly reports and work with finance on monthly forecasts.
- Lead departmental initiatives and projects, based on priority; maintain project documentation and track projects to ensure deadlines are met and goals are achieved.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of firm/vendor relationship, including onboarding, billing operations, auditing, evaluations, reporting, and offboarding.
- Coordinate with IT teams regarding various integrations between Legal Systems to plan and manage the exchange of data between Legal and Corporate systems.
- Support vetting and implementing technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
- Plan all global in-person and virtual meetings (location/logistics, agenda, speakers, communications, etc.)
- Assist with ERM duties as needed.
- Other duties as needed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- Requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business.
- 10 or more years of experience with at least 5 years of law firm or in-house legal department experience; legal operations experience preferred, not required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with internal and external customers and vendors.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to set objectives and produce results.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement a vision and to proactively identify opportunities to improve legal and business processes.
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience with matter management, eBilling, contract lifecycle management and workflow software. Onit experience preferred, not required.
- Consummate team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to a shared culture of dignity and respect.
