Overall Internship Objectives


• Provide hands-on exposure to the role of in-house counsel, balancing legal risk with business objectives. • Develop foundational legal skills in research, drafting, issue-spotting, and contract review.

• Support the Legal Department in executing strategic initiatives and managing day-to-day legal operations.

• Build familiarity with litigation oversight, transactional workflows, and regulatory compliance considerations.

• Enhance the intern’s ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to business stakeholders.


Responsibilities / Duties


The intern will support the Legal Department across a variety of functions, including:

• Drafting initial versions of Settlement Release Agreements and other standardized legal documents.

• Conducting legal research projects, including assisting in comprehensive 50-state surveys on regulatory and litigation topics.

• Providing initial issue-spotting and redline review comments on contracts and internal documents.

• Assisting with deal closing checklists and transaction tracking.

• Supporting litigation oversight efforts, including summarizing case updates and identifying key legal risks.

• Assisting with internal policy and procedure development as needed.

• Providing general support to advance departmental strategic goals and cross-functional initiatives.


Skills / Competencies


Developed Through this internship, the intern will develop:

• Legal research and analytical skills, including statutory and regulatory interpretation.

• Contract review and drafting fundamentals, including exposure to negotiation concepts.

• Issue-spotting and risk assessment from both legal and business perspectives.

• Written and verbal communication skills tailored to internal stakeholders.

• Organizational and project management skills within a legal operations framework.

• Practical understanding of litigation management and transactional processes in an in-house setting.


Meaningful Projects


The intern will have ownership and accountability over substantive work, including:

• Assisting in the building and maintaining at least one comprehensive 50-state legal survey on a key business topic.

• Drafting and refining a standardized Settlement Release Agreement template.

• Assisting in the development or enhancement of legal department procedures or playbooks for AI integration.

• Supporting a deal lifecycle project, including closing checklist creation and execution tracking.

• Preparing a memorandum summarizing key findings and recommendations from their work to EVP of Legal.
