The Department of Languages and Literatures at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Rhetoric and Composition. This position is not tenure-track.

This position includes teaching primarily first-year rhetoric and composition courses using onsite, online, hybrid, and blended modalities with the possibility of teaching upper-division writing courses depending on the need and candidate’s expertise. The candidate will also assist the Composition Director with the continual review, revision, and improvement of composition course curriculum and may serve as a lead course instructor. Additionally, the position holds expectations for service on departmental committees and participation in professional development activities.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive training and experience in the teaching of writing and demonstrate the ability to apply current trends in writing pedagogy, multimodal composition, and inclusive pedagogy in the classroom. The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
  1. Teach a 4-4 course load of English Composition and Speech course sections
  2. Assist the Composition director with the continual review, revision, and improvement of the composition course curriculum
  3. Expectations of teaching, research, and service as defined by the position title. As this is a lecture position, the primary responsibility is in teaching.
