WHAT WE NEED:
Lead Requisition Engineer
The Lead Requisition Engineer is responsible for leading the technical development of engineering requisitions and purchase specifications for equipment, materials, and services used on capital and operational projects. This role serves as the technical liaison between Engineering, Procurement, Vendors, and Project Management to ensure requisitions are complete, accurate, and aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget.
This position also provides technical leadership to junior engineers and contributes to standardization, process improvement, and best practices across requisition development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and technical review of engineering requisitions, datasheets, bid packages, and purchase specifications
- Ensure requisitions comply with project requirements, applicable codes/standards, and company engineering practices
- Coordinate technical clarifications, vendor questions, and bid evaluations
- Review and approve vendor submittals, drawings, and technical documentation
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for Procurement and Supply Chain
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Construction teams
- Support expediting efforts and resolve technical issues related to purchased equipment
- Participate in vendor meetings, FATs, and technical negotiations as needed
- Mentor and support junior or mid‑level engineers assigned to requisition tasks
- Provide technical guidance and subject‑matter expertise within assigned discipline
- Contribute to development and maintenance of standard specifications and templates
- Identify opportunities to improve requisition processes and documentation quality
WHO WE NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 10+ years of engineering experience with strong focus on requisitions, specifications, or equipment procurement
- Demonstrated experience leading complex equipment or material requisitions
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, IEEE, NEC, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with vendors and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- EPC, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or construction industry experience
- Experience reviewing vendor bids and performing technical evaluations
- Leadership or mentoring experience
