We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead the engineering execution of large-scale power generation projects. This role serves as the technical leader for assigned projects, ensuring engineering deliverables are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.


Position Summary

The Project Engineer serves as the engineering team leader and primary technical point of contact for assigned projects. Working closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and subcontractors, this individual will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.The ideal candidate will have experience supporting fossil fuel power plants, utility power generation projects, EPC/design-build environments, or other large industrial energy projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all engineering activities for assigned projects.
  • Develop project engineering plans, scopes of work, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with project specifications, contract requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Serve as the primary engineering representative to clients on technical matters.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and controls engineering.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Planners, Design Leads, Procurement, Construction, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Review and approve technical documents, including:
  • RFQs for materials and equipment
  • Engineering calculations and drawings
  • Purchase specifications
  • Commissioning procedures
  • Acceptance test procedures
  • Operations & Maintenance Manuals
  • Technical reports and project documentation
  • Manage engineering deliverables to ensure completion within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Initiate and monitor project documentation systems, including RFIs, NCRs, design changes, and other project records.
  • Lead technical meetings with clients, consulting engineers, equipment suppliers, fabricators, and subcontractors.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering subcontractors and monitor the timely receipt of deliverables.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities as required.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, correspondence, and project status updates.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience serving as a Lead Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Engineering Team Lead on power generation or large industrial projects.
  • Experience supporting fossil fuel utility power plants, power generation facilities, boiler systems, energy infrastructure, or EPC/design-build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and external subcontractors.
  • Strong client-facing communication and project leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Preferred

  • Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environments.
  • Experience managing engineering schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities.
