Lead Java Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Java Developer for 12+ Months Contract position with our Direct Client located in Southlake, TX/ Austin, TX (Onsite) {Locals Only preferred}.

Pay Range: $65 - $70/hr on W2-Only; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Description:

• Sr. Java Developer within Charitable reporting.
• The application is described as “the heart of Charitable”, it’s a very critical system.
• Role supports the ingestion, migration, and modernization of a core application.
• Application processes large volumes of data: ingests from multiple external systems, digests, and sends downstream.
• Core development work is largely complete; the team is now moving into the next phases of the modernization initiative.
• Team is modernizing 6–7 systems/platforms, approximately 80% of current architecture is mainframe-based.

Must Haves Skills:

Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Rest APIs, Rabbit MQ (Kafka will suffice), GitHub Actions, Copilot (or some level of AI agent)

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Microservices, JPA, Spring Cloud Data Flow

Must Haves:

• Core Java, Spring Batch, Rest APIs
• Angular or React
• Eventing (Rabbit MQ/ Kafka)
• SAFe Agile - familiarity in that environment,
• PCF, GCP

Nice-to-Have:

• GitHub strong nice to have
• Copilot Agents and AI nice to have
• NodeJS
• MongoDB

Technical Environment

• Backend: 60–70% backend Java development
• Heavy batch driven processing, systems interact with numerous applications and integration points.
• Tech involved includes: AWS, Kafka, APIs, PCF applications migrating to GCP.
• Frontend: Some projects will require full-stack capability. Need Angular or React experience, NodeJS nice-to-have.
• Cloud: GCP is important moving forward (strategic cloud direction). Current apps live in PCF, actively being moved to GCP.
• AI / Tools: GitHub Copilot AI being explored, mention of multiple AI agents.

Candidate Profile Summary

• Strong Java developer with experience handling high volume, complex data processing
• Comfortable working in distributed, integrated systems with batch workflows
• Capable of contributing to UI when needed (Angular or React)
• Cloud capable, ideally with interest or experience in GCP
• Able to work in a modernization environment involving legacy (mainframe) and modern cloud architectures
