Lead Electrical Designer – Advanced Power Generation (APG)

This opportunity supports a large, well-established EPC firm within the Power Providers Market Sector, focused on Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects that deliver critical energy infrastructure.

Role Overview

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams supporting APG facilities
  • Contribute to power systems design, including electrical infrastructure supporting generation assets
  • Play a key role in developing high-quality 2D and 3D engineering deliverables

Technical Focus

  • Electrical design scope includes:
    • Duct bank design
    • Cable tray design
    • Grounding systems
    • Lighting and other supporting electrical systems
  • Create and modify design drawings using Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools
  • AGI32 experience preferred for lighting design and illumination calculations
  • Apply advanced electrical engineering principles under minimal supervision
  • Maintain strong awareness of project budgets and schedules

Lead & Design Responsibilities

  • Function as a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
  • Apply advanced expertise to solve complex design challenges
  • Ensure technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce design and graphic standards
  • Review project requirements, design inputs, and deliverables for consistency and compliance
  • Coordinate and integrate design efforts across disciplines
  • Guide and mentor engineering technicians and support staff as applicable

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design–related technology (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Design–related technology (preferred)
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Power generation design experience required
  • Ability to complete standard pre-employment onboarding requirements

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
