Job Title: Lead Deburr Technician

Job Description

The Lead Deburr Technician performs precise deburring, edge-breaking, and surface finishing on complex machined parts while providing hands-on leadership to other deburr technicians. This role uses a variety of tools and inspection equipment to ensure parts meet engineering specifications and quality standards, maintains accurate records and workflow, and collaborates closely with production teams to resolve surface finish and burr-related issues in a clean, safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out thorough deburring, edge-breaking, and surface finishing on complex machined parts to meet quality and cosmetic standards.
  • Use hand tools, rotary tools, files, stones, scrapers, and a range of abrasives to remove burrs, sharp edges, and machining marks.
  • Interpret and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure all parts meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
  • Inspect components visually and dimensionally using calipers, micrometers, magnifiers, comparators, and height gauges to verify conformance.
  • Supervise and train other deburr technicians, demonstrating proper deburring techniques and best practices to maintain consistent quality.
  • Organize workflow in the deburr area to meet production schedules and maintain accurate records in alignment with company and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with machinists, inspectors, and production leads to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve surface finish and burr-related issues.
  • Follow and promote safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and ESD/FOD prevention practices to maintain a safe and orderly work area.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience performing deburring, edge-breaking, and surface finishing on complex machined parts.
  • Strong proficiency using hand tools, rotary tools, files, stones, scrapers, and abrasives for precision deburring work.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting parts using calipers, micrometers, magnifiers, comparators, and height gauges.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organized workflow and accurate production and quality records.
  • Knowledge and application of safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and ESD/FOD prevention practices.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with machinists, inspectors, and production leads.
  • Ability to supervise and train other technicians in proper deburring techniques and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working with grinding and other finishing processes.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a focus on high-quality surface finishes and dimensional accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a production setting.

Work Environment

You will work in a new, modern machine shop environment on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to ESD/FOD prevention practices, supporting high-quality manufacturing and a well-organized workspace. The location is conveniently situated near multiple lunch options and a mall, making breaks and errands easy to manage during the workday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58420.00 - $64000.00/yr.
