Job Profile Summary

Supports teammates in executing team responsibilities. This role focuses on training and coaching, developing and improving standard work, and responding to abnormal conditions. Responsible for problem-solving, as well as ensuring safety and quality in team performance.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Team Development & Standard Work
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of standard work.
  • Train and support the development of teammates.
  • Audit processes to confirm adherence to standard work.
  • Coach teammates when standards are not followed and escalate to the Group Leader as needed.
Operations & Workflow
  • Support continuous flow of specimens within the area of responsibility.
  • Cover staffing gaps due to call-outs, project work, or unexpected absences.
  • Monitor team productivity and respond promptly to Andon alerts.
  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshoot instruments or equipment when possible.
  • Confirm issue resolution with teammates before closing problems.
Continuous Improvement
  • Dedicate at least 70% of the day to continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, customer service, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Actively contribute to performance improvements across the team.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure quality of testing within the assigned area.
  • Investigate testing quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Document abnormal conditions and communicate with appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain point-of-use storage (organization, labeling, inventory communication).
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality systems.
Safety & Workplace Standards
  • Maintain 5S standards to support safety and quality.
  • Conduct visual control audits.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
  • Work proactively in environments with biological, chemical, and mechanical hazards.
Communication & Leadership
  • Escalate abnormal or serious personnel situations to the Group Leader.
  • Act as a catalyst for team-building initiatives.
  • Stay attentive to team morale and workplace dynamics.
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Fast-paced environment with physicians, technologists, and visitors.
  • Exposure to infectious materials, chemical hazards, fire, and mechanical risks.
  • Requires active movement, walking, and navigating around equipment.
  • Physical tasks may include:
    • Stooping and reaching
    • Lifting 20–50 lbs.
Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills
  • Experience in:
    • FISH Analysis (preferred)
    • Chromosome Analysis (blood and bone marrow) (preferred)
    • Cytogenetics Wet Bench Setup (preferred)

Education & Certifications
  • ASCP registered Medical Technologist (or equivalent) required
  • Certification: CG (ASCP) required
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
