We are seeking a forward-thinking Lead Cybersecurity Engineer to drive the automation of security testing and the integration of AI tools and techniques in our cybersecurity initiatives. In this leadership role, you will architect, implement, and optimize intelligent test automation solutions to enhance the security and resilience of our core network, infrastructure, and applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors, mentor engineers, and ensure our testing and defense capabilities are at the forefront of the industry.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of automated security test cases using AI-powered tools to identify vulnerabilities and assess risks across multi-vendor environments, including routers, firewalls, and cloud platforms.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Python scripts and frameworks to automate penetration testing, threat simulation, and security compliance checks.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning techniques to improve detection of security anomalies, automate repetitive testing workflows, and generate intelligent remediation recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience with Telecom Service Provider grade switches and routers (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Whitebox etc.).
  • Strong server administration skills (Linux/Windows), including patching and resource monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using EEM (Embedded Event Manager), Ansible, and other orchestration tools to streamline network operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and metric dashboards to monitor network health, security controls, and operational KPIs.
  • Test, validate, and report on the effectiveness of security controls and defenses throughout the network environment.
  • Deploy, review, and enforce network security policies, including CoPP (Control Plane Policing), DDOS mitigation measures, and router ACLs.
  • Implement and support advanced BGP security measures such as RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) and best practices to prevent hijacking and route leaks.
  • Collaborate with software vendors and internal engineering teams to define and standardize security test requirements and checkpoints within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Research emerging AI technologies and cybersecurity trends to continuously evolve and enhance the security testing ecosystem.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning focused on advanced test automation and cyber defense.
  • Analyze, document, and report on test outcomes, vulnerability trends, and mitigation strategies to technical leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with Blue/Red Teams, and incident response groups to share actionable insights from automated testing and AI-driven security assessments.
  • Research adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), especially those targeting telecom and next-generation network technologies.
  • Ensure testing platforms and methodologies are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience at least 5 years+ in network and application security testing, particularly in telecom or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML concepts and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Practical experience implementing or integrating AI-driven security tools (such as automated vulnerability scanners, behavior analytics, or threat intelligence platforms).
  • Strong background in automating test cases and building scalable test frameworks within CI/CD environments.
  • Ability to lead and mentor cybersecurity teams, coordinate with vendors, and communicate complex technical findings to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.


Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science or Cybersecurity. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Lead Cybersecurity earns between $141,300-$211,900 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
