Lead Construction Planner/Schedule Integrator - Transmission Lines and Substations

AcceleratedPM
Yellow Pine, ID

Job Title: Lead Construction Planner/Schedule Integrator – Transmission Lines and Substations

Company: AcceleratedPM

Job Type: Remote to Start/Travel Required/Regular On-Site Presence During Construction

Job Location: Cascade to Yellow Pine Corridor, Idaho

Work Schedule: Remote during early planning/development with travel to site and contractor offices as needed; expected to transition to at least 50% on-site presence during active construction

AcceleratedPM is seeking a Lead Construction Planner/Schedule Integrator to support planning development and schedule integration for the power delivery infrastructure on a major resource project in central Idaho. The scope encompasses approximately 64 miles of 138 kV transmission line upgrades, 9 miles of new 138 kV line construction, and 10 greenfield substations spanning a corridor from Cascade to the project site near Yellow Pine.

The successful candidate will lead interactive planning with the transmission EPC contractor, challenge and integrate their schedules into the broader project master schedule, and ensure that execution plans reflect real corridor conditions, utility coordination requirements, ROW and permitting constraints, and interface dependencies with the mine-site construction program. This role requires deep familiarity with transmission line and substation construction sequencing. The right person has built or challenged T&D construction schedules in the field and understands what it takes to execute spread-based linear work in difficult terrain.

Location/Travel:

  • Role expected to begin primarily remote, with travel to project site and contractor offices as needed during planning and schedule development
  • Role expected to transition to regular on-site presence of at least 50% during active construction
  • Work environment will include office, contractor office, trailer, and active construction settings; PPE requirements apply when on site

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and schedule integration for the transmission and substation scope, coordinating with the EPC contractor and Idaho Power to develop executable, logic-driven construction schedules
  • Facilitate interactive planning sessions with the transmission EPC to align on sequencing, spread strategies, access plans, structure erection sequences, stringing plans, and substation construction phasing
  • Review contractor schedules for logic integrity, sequencing realism, constructability, resource adequacy, and compliance with owner scheduling specifications before integration into the project master schedule
  • Challenge schedule assumptions including production rates for foundation installation, structure setting, conductor stringing, substation equipment erection, and testing/commissioning against actual corridor conditions and crew capabilities
  • Evaluate ROW access, material staging, laydown logistics, equipment mobilization, outage coordination windows, and environmental or permitting constraints that materially affect schedule execution along the corridor
  • Coordinate interface milestones and handoffs between the transmission scope and the broader mine-site construction program, including tie-in energization sequencing and commissioning interdependencies
  • Support resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedule development using realistic crew compositions, equipment spreads, and production assumptions for T&D construction
  • Identify schedule risks, weak assumptions, planning gaps, and interface conflicts early enough for corrective action; support recovery planning when needed
  • Maintain baseline integrity and change control by documenting planning assumptions, logic changes, scope movement, and schedule impacts
  • During construction, provide hands-on support for look-ahead planning, progress validation, forecast updates, field coordination, and earned value reporting
  • Prepare schedule narratives, planning review materials, and reporting packages for contractor engagement, client reviews, and leadership decision-making

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 10+ years of planning/scheduling experience on transmission line, substation, or power delivery construction projects, including significant field-based experience during active construction
  • Direct experience with 69 kV–230 kV overhead transmission line construction sequencing, including ROW clearing, foundation work, structure erection, and conductor stringing operations
  • Substation construction planning experience (greenfield preferred), including equipment setting, bus work, grounding, protection and controls, and testing/energization sequences
  • Strong hands-on Primavera P6 capability including logic development, statusing, baselines, calendars, coding, layouts, schedule quality checks, and resource/cost loading
  • Demonstrated ability to lead contractor planning sessions and interactive schedule development workshops
  • Ability to review and challenge contractor schedules for logic, sequencing, constructability, interfaces, and execution feasibility
  • Ability to read and interpret transmission line plan/profile drawings, substation general arrangements, and one-line diagrams to assess phasing and constructability
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management concepts, including progress measurement methods, baseline discipline, and forecast updates
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface directly with EPC contractors, utility representatives, and owner stakeholders
  • Willing to travel during planning development and maintain regular on-site presence (50%+) during active construction; PPE required on site

Preferred Skills:

  • Owner-side or EPCM experience on transmission and substation programs
  • Experience integrating contractor schedules into a broader owner or program-level master schedule
  • Experience with utility coordination, outage scheduling, or energization planning
  • Experience working in mountainous, remote, or access-constrained linear corridor environments
  • Familiarity with spread-based construction management for linear T&D projects
  • Exposure to schedule recovery planning, interface management, and schedule impact evaluation

Salary: $110/hr 1099 (W2 w/ benefits also available)

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), health and dental insurance, and PTO for W 2 employees.
