About the RoleWe're looking for an experienced automation professional who's ready to take the next step in their career—not just as a hands-on technical expert, but as a leader and mentor. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend about 70% of your time designing and executing a technical roadmap, and building or recommending integrations, and 30% coaching a small team and driving organizational change.
You'll lead a team of 2-3 experienced hardware and software professionals who have strong governance foundations but are looking for a compliment to their talents with someone who understands infrastructure-as-code, API integrations, and automation frameworks. Your job is to guide them on that journey while also establishing yourself as a go-to expert on automation and AI enablement across the organization.
What You'll Do- Design and deliver the automation and systems integration roadmap for the organization
- Build or direct modern integrations across enterprise platforms using REST APIs, and/or re-platforming, and integration tools
- Work with subject matter technology teams (Identity engineering, ServiceNow development, Network Engineering, Automation Engineering, etc.) to build a robust asset management platform or platforms
- Create workflows, scripts, and automations that measurably reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
- Mentor and upskill a team of 2-3 technical professionals, introducing them to modern practices like IaC, CI/CD, and API development
- Champion the adoption of automation and AI tools across the organization, providing training, and enablement to non-technical teams
- Improve data flows and accuracy for our CMDB, asset management systems, and related platforms
- Replace legacy manual processes with modern, scalable automated solutions
Who You AreYou're a hands-on automation engineer who:
- Still loves to code, troubleshoot, and solve complex technical problems
- Is excited about mentoring others and helping them level up their skills
- Wants to influence how an organization thinks about automation and AI, not just execute on someone else's vision
- Communicates technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ideal Experience- 5–8+ years in automation engineering, systems integration, or platform engineering roles
- Experience with REST APIs and at least one scripting language (Python or PowerShell)
- Strong interest in Agentic AI and LLMs
- Experience owning or operating an enterprise system (CMDB, ITSM, asset management, or similar)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—you can explain complex topics simply
- Exposure to Hardware or Software management
Preferred Experience- ServiceNow familiarity
- Experience with integration platforms or automation approaches
- Familiarity with modern development practices (version control, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code)
- Exposure to AI tools, RPA platforms, or low-code/no-code automation solutions
- Experience leading change management or enablement initiatives
- Working knowledge of CMDB concepts and asset data lifecycle management
What Success Looks Like in Year One- Technical delivery: You've built and deployed 3-5 high-impact integrations or automation workflows that measurably reduce manual work
- Team development: Your team members have successfully delivered automation projects using modern tools and practices they learned from you
- Organizational influence: You're recognized as the go-to expert on automation and AI, with multiple departments seeking your guidance
- Process modernization: You've replaced at least 2 legacy manual processes with scalable, maintainable automation solutions or you have integrated two systems to gain new insight
- Thought Leadership: Train up to become the AI though leader for the time with dedicated training and support to get you there
