Position: Agentic AI Researcher
(Research x Systems | Autonomous Decision-Making)
About the Firm
We are a highly reputable mid-sized investment management firm applying advanced AI to improve how investment decisions are researched and executed. The focus is on building systems that operate effectively in noisy, dynamic, real-world environments.
The Opportunity
Most AI systems are built for static benchmarks and well-defined tasks. This role focuses on a harder problem:
How do intelligent systems reason, adapt, and act when the environment is uncertain and constantly changing?
You will work on agentic AI systems that extend human decision-making—not just automate workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build agent-based systems capable of planning, iteration, and long-horizon reasoning
- Develop multi-agent architectures that collaborate across complex tasks
- Create evaluation frameworks where success is not clearly defined or immediately observable
- Bridge research and production, turning ideas into systems that operate reliably
- Work closely with domain experts on high-impact, open-ended problems
What We’re Looking For
- Experience at a senior/staff level in AI/ML or research
- Track record of leading ambiguous, high-impact projects
- Strength in both research and systems building
- Deep understanding of model behavior, limitations, and failure modes
- Comfort operating with high autonomy and loosely defined problems
Why This Role
- Define problems, not just execute on them
- Work on systems that must perform under real-world constraints
- See direct impact of your work on outcomes—not just metrics
- Operate in a focused environment with faster iteration and fewer layers
Compensation
Competitive with senior/staff-level roles at leading technology companies, with performance-based upside.
