Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist
Job Description

The CNC Lathe Machinist sets up and operates CNC equipment for both production and prototype parts, following established standards and processes in a machine shop environment. This role ensures parts meet blueprint specifications and cycle time targets while supporting lean manufacturing principles and effective teamwork across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC lathes and related equipment to run production and prototype parts according to blueprints and established processes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain product and setup processes, including work instructions for prototype parts.
  • Program CNC equipment on the shop floor, including Mazatrol, and edit CNC programs to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining processes, CNC programs, equipment, and tooling to resolve quality or performance issues.
  • Design and build fixtures and work-holding devices to support efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Manage daily workload, adapt to changing priorities, and ensure production meets required cycle times.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers to verify part quality and support quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Apply blueprint reading and CAD-based information to ensure parts are machined to specification.
  • Support and promote lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the machine shop.
  • Pay close attention to detail and use critical thinking to identify and correct issues in machining processes.
  • Actively organize, maintain, and improve current manufacturing processes in line with company policies and strategies.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience setting up CNC lathes for production and prototype machining.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints to machine parts to specification.
  • Ability to perform shop floor programming, including Mazatrol, and edit CNC programs.
  • Experience with machining operations on CNC equipment, including lathes and mills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes, programs, equipment, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control practices in a machine shop environment.
  • Skill using precision measuring instruments such as calipers to verify part dimensions.
  • Ability to design or adapt fixtures and work-holding devices for efficient machining.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and critical thinking in daily work.
  • Capability to manage workload and adjust to changing priorities in a production setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Haas machines or similar CNC equipment.
  • Exposure to CAD software to support blueprint interpretation and prototype machining.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Proactive approach to maintaining and improving established company policies and manufacturing strategies.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively within the machine shop.
  • Organizational skills to develop and maintain clear work instructions for prototype and production parts.

Work Environment

This role is based in a temperature-controlled machine shop designed for comfort and consistent machining conditions. You will work with CNC lathes, mills, Mazatrol and other CNC programming tools, precision measuring equipment such as calipers, and CAD-based drawings. This is a Contract position based out of Liberty Lake, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
