Job Title: 2nd Shift Laser Machine Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on operating a Maztec CNC laser machine to cut sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. You will work hands-on in a fabrication environment, loading materials, running laser cutting programs, and producing high-quality parts according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a Maztec CNC laser machine to cut sheet metal components accurately and safely.
  • Load sheet metal onto the laser machine, ensuring proper placement, alignment, and secure handling.
  • Cut side panels and other sheet metal parts according to work orders, drawings, and production requirements.
  • Laser out parts to meet precise dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operation, adjust settings as needed, and respond promptly to alarms or issues.
  • Perform basic machine checks and routine cleaning to support reliable operation.
  • Collaborate with the fabrication team, including press brake and CNC operations, to support smooth production flow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while operating machinery.
  • Inspect finished parts visually and dimensionally to confirm they meet quality expectations.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • At least 1+ year of hands-on laser machine operation experience.
  • Proficiency operating CNC laser equipment, including setting up and running laser cutting programs.
  • Strong experience working with sheet metal in a fabrication setting.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and production requirements for cutting side panels and parts.
  • Solid understanding of basic safety practices when working with CNC and laser machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Maztec laser machines or similar CNC laser equipment.
  • Experience in metal fabrication operations such as press brake and general CNC work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal micromanagement while maintaining productivity.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.

Work Environment

This position is based in a 55,000 square foot, open-bay fabrication facility that is not air-conditioned and is equipped with large industrial fans to improve airflow. You will work around CNC lasers, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment in a production-focused environment. The schedule is Monday through Thursday with no weekend shifts. Appropriate safety footwear is required, supported by an annual safety shoe credit.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clearwater, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
