Large Format Production Specialist

Graphic Solutions Group is hiring a Large Format Production Specialist to be responsible for production in our large format department. Our long-tenured operator is retiring after years of service - and he’ll be here to walk you through it. You're inheriting a solid foundation, not starting from scratch.

You will be responsible for production from end-to-end. Files in, finished product out. RIP, print, finish, quality control, maintenance, and workflow all sit with you.

What You'll Do

• Run daily production on our Durst UV Hybrid, Epson eco-solvent roll-to-roll, and Kongsberg C64 cutting system
• Process files through Caldera and Onyx RIP workflows
• Review incoming files and determine the best production method
• Manage color output and maintain consistency across jobs
• Handle all finishing: trimming, mounting, laminating, and packaging
• Keep equipment running, perform routine maintenance, flag issues early
• Maintain inventory of media and supplies
• Hit deadlines without cutting corners on quality
• Supervise temporary employees at high-volume periods

What We're Looking For

Technical Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on large format production experience
• Proficiency with Caldera, Onyx, or comparable RIP software
• Strong understanding of substrates, inks, and finishing methods
• Solid color management skills

Work Style

• Detail-focused — you catch issues before they become reprints
• Able to lift 50–75 lbs; comfortable with prolonged standing on a production floor environment
• Accountable and self-directed

The Reality of the Role

• This is not a design job
• This is not a "press button" role
• You are the department

If you like owning your work, solving problems, and taking pride in finished output, this fits. If you need constant supervision, it won't.

Reporting & Team

This role reports to the Director of Digital Services and works alongside customer service, prepress, estimating, and other production departments. You'll have a real transition period with the outgoing operator — someone who knows this equipment and these workflows inside and out. That handoff is a genuine asset.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Some overtime possible during peak periods.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience — range provided during initial screening.
