Job Description

This full-time Laboratory Technician role on the 3rd shift offers the opportunity to perform hands-on microbiology and laboratory testing in a fast-growing facility. You will work primarily with plating and pipetting techniques while operating standard lab equipment, gaining practical experience in a real-world laboratory environment. The position provides cross-training and internal growth opportunities for high-performing technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiology and other laboratory tests accurately and efficiently for the majority of the shift.
  • Conduct plating procedures and related microbiological techniques in accordance with established protocols.
  • Use pipettes and other standard laboratory equipment to prepare, handle, and analyze samples.
  • Document test procedures, observations, and results clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace, including routine cleaning tasks.
  • Follow all laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Work independently during the shift, making sound decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in cross-training to learn additional areas and methods within the laboratory as performance and business needs allow.
Essential Skills
  • Degree in the sciences (such as Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline).
  • Hands-on experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with microbiology techniques, including plating and related lab procedures.
  • Ability to use standard lab equipment confidently and safely.
  • Strong pipetting skills and attention to detail in sample handling.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks during a shift.
  • Commitment to following laboratory protocols, documentation standards, and safety practices.

Work Environment

You will work in a laboratory environment for the entire shift, performing microbiology and related lab testing approximately 80% to 90% of the time. The remaining one to two hours each day will involve documentation, cleaning, and other routine tasks that support lab operations. This is a full-time 3rd shift position with a schedule of Sunday through Wednesday, 2:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The lab operates with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established protocols, and offers a dynamic atmosphere within a rapidly growing site where technicians receive cross-training and exposure to multiple laboratory areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NEW BERLIN, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.40 - $22.40/hr.
