Our firm serves cities, towns, and school committees across Massachusetts, providing strategic counsel on labor, employment, and school law matters. About the Role
The attorney will work closely with partners and municipal clients on a broad range of public‑sector labor, employment, and school law issues. This role involves both advisory work and advocacy, including:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to municipal and school‑district officials on labor, employment, and school‑law matters.
- Represent public‑sector clients in collective bargaining negotiations, including strategy development and drafting proposals.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written opinions, briefs, policies, and related documents.
- Represent clients in labor arbitrations, grievance hearings, and proceedings before federal and state agencies.
- Assist with training sessions for municipal or school‑district personnel on legal compliance and best practices.
- Stay up to date on changes in relevant state and federal laws affecting public employers.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Massachusetts Bar (or eligibility for admission).
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Prior experience in labor law, employment law, education law, or public‑sector representation is preferred but not required.
