Job Title: Lab Technician - Microbiology

Location: Vernon Hills, IL 60061

Duration: 12-month contract

Pay Rate: $25–$29/hour, depending on experience

Work Schedule: On-site

Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician will support routine laboratory operations, including bacterial culture propagation, media and reagent preparation, inventory control, equipment qualification support, and documentation in accordance with established SOPs, scientific methods, quality guidelines, and GDP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory maintenance and general lab support duties.
• Propagate bacterial cultures.
• Prepare media, reagents, plates, and tubes.
• Label plates and tubes accurately.
• Restock laboratory supplies and maintain adequate inventory of media and reagents.
• Work within established SOPs and/or scientific methods.
• Follow quality guidelines and laboratory best practices.
• Assist with qualification and validation of laboratory equipment and instruments, including calibration activities.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks and ensure documentation is completed under GDP guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or a related science field.
• 1–2 years of laboratory experience.
• Hands-on laboratory experience.

Nice to Have

• Aseptic technique experience.
