Kids Rock Camp Counselor

As a Kids R.O.C.K. Camp Counselor, you'll help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for participants. You’ll lead games, sports, crafts, and activities while assisting with lesson plans that keep kids active and entertained. From refereeing kickball to guiding craft projects and ensuring safety guidelines are followed, you’ll make a positive impact each day. Strong communication is important—you’ll share updates with parents, collaborate with leadership on any concerns, and help maintain a welcoming atmosphere. Most importantly, you’ll serve as a positive role model, building strong relationships with campers, families, and coworkers while upholding the values of our Parks and Recreation programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining the rules, regulations and policies of the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Assist in carrying out weekly lesson plans and activities.
  • Communicate problems and/or incidents to Camp Director & Specialists in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with team games such as soccer, softball, and kickball, etc. Help to explain the rules and act as a player, referee, or umpire throughout the game.
  • Assist with providing activities such as crafts and art, demonstrating various techniques and encouraging children to come up with ideas.
  • Communicate with parents, provide updates where required and answer questions about the program.
  • Promotes and provides a positive environment for fellow staff and participants.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive and respectful relationships and rapport with co-workers, maintenance staff and members of the public including but not limited to participants and parents.
  • Follows and enforces all rules and regulations set forth in the temporary/seasonal employee handbook as well as the Kids R.O.C.K. staff manual. Including all safety guidelines associated with the program.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the program and locations.
  • Accountable to act responsibly in any emergency.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

Selection Criteria to Qualify for this Position:
  • Clean background check for applicants 18+.
  • Ability to understand and follow written or oral instructions.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Ability to work between the hours of 6:46am-5:45pm Monday-Friday. No weekend hours required.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED or ability to obtain within employer’s specified timeframe.
  • Previous paid or unpaid experience in a childcare, preschool, or youth camp/ program setting- specifically relevant to the position advertised.
  • Previous work involving contact with the public, customer service or work with recreation-related field. Skill and maturity to handle situations including but not limited to disciplinary actions, participant confrontations, participant complaints and emergency situations.
Working Environment:
•Demands of the position require employees to work weekdays (between 6am-6pm) and possible evenings/weekends as the demands of the position require.
•Position is primarily active and hands-on in nature, with work direction requiring on-site availability. This will require travel to and from the work site. There will be exposure to weather extremes as work is performed in a variety of physical environments including outdoor and indoor facilities in the elements of a year-round season.

Physical Requirements for this Position:
•Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the work environment. Must be able to effectively communicate with participants, staff, and the public. Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

Camp schedule:
June 9- August 21. Monday- Friday. 7a.m.-5:30p.m. No camp on June 8 or July 3, 2026.

Seasonal Position:
11-12 weeks, Monday- Friday. Between 25-35 hours a week, hours will vary. Typical shifts are about 5-6 hours, 3-5 days a week.
