- Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support for WDE computing and telecom devices, hardware, software, applications and K12-centric platforms
- Install, configure, administer, maintain, update, and upgrade hardware, OS, software, and cloud services
- Support specialized educational equipment integration
- Administer the helpdesk system
- Escalate unresolved issues
- Manages the technology procurement lifecycle, including research, evaluation, and acquisition of hardware and software
- Ensures compliance with OCIO regulations while prioritizing quality, vendor support, and cost-effectiveness
- Prepares and processes purchasing documentation, including orders, requisitions (RX), and payment vouchers
- Coordinates distribution of equipment and assigns fixed asset tags in accordance with state requirements
- Maintains accurate inventory records and tracks software licenses to ensure compliance and availability
- Oversees complex technology initiatives and contributes to the development of the agency’s long-term technology roadmap
- Leads and manages projects including system migrations, replacements, and upgrades
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends current and emerging technology solutions
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business needs
- Develops detailed system specifications and documentation
- Coordinates planning, testing, and implementation of technology solutions
- Maintains and updates the Technology Replacement Plan (TRP) to support lifecycle management and strategic planning
- Provide technology instruction to both new and current WDE staff
- Assists in managing technology assets and inventory across the agency
- Maintains accurate inventory records for all hardware, software, and mobile devices
- Processes and submits work orders for telecommunication services
- Generates and reviews inventory and asset management reports
- Configures, deploys, and registers mobile devices; ensures inventory records are current
- Prepares and deploys staff workstations to ensure readiness for use
- Coordinates surplus of obsolete or malfunctioning equipment, including secure data wiping in compliance with policy
- Other duties as assigned
PREFERENCES:Preference may be given to candidates with experience providing Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support for computer and mobile devices, including troubleshooting and repair. Knowledge of current hardware and software technologies and their practical applications, and familiarity with State of Wyoming procurement processes, OCIO/ETS regulations, and technology purchasing or ticketing systems.
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of current hardware and software technologies and their appropriate applications.
- Knowledge of computer and mobile device support, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Knowledge of principles and practices for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of information systems.
- Knowledge of technology purchasing and ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of State of Wyoming procurement regulations and Enterprise Technology Systems (ETS) policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of business analysis techniques, including cost/benefit evaluation.
- Knowledge of effective communication practices, both oral and written.
- Knowledge of computer systems, software concepts, and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of documentation, reporting, and research methods for evaluating technology solutions and supporting decision-making.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in Computer Technology)
Experience:0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Computer Technology) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Support Technologist III
OREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:4-6years of progressive work experience (typically in Computer Technology) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Support Technologist III

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.

- This position is not eligible for telework
- Successful applicants must reside in Wyoming or maintain a primary residence within a 100-mile radius of Cheyenne for the duration of their employment with the Wyoming Department of Education.
