The Opportunity


BDS is looking for a dedicated Jr. Purchasing Agent to join our procurement team. The Jr. Purchasing Agent is responsible for identifying suppliers, researching goods and services, processing purchase orders, and verifying delivered items.


To be successful as a Purchaser/Buyer you should be able to critically assess suppliers, products, and services, and negotiate the best possible deals. Ultimately, an outstanding buyer/purchasing agent has a keen sense of business and maintains meticulous transaction records.


In this role, you will collaborate with other departments, such as Customer Service, Sales, Service, and Finance, so teamwork skills are very important. You should also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. If you meet these criteria and possess a Strategic, Analytical Mind, we’d like to hear from you.


Your Impact at BDS

  • Purchasing for all Equipment, parts, supplies, and outside services.
  • Develop and implement best practices, procedures, and policies for procurement.
  • Maintain accurate records of relevant purchase documents for reference purposes.
  • Prepares reports as requested to review metrics.
  • Manages daily purchasing activities
  • Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Conduct assessments to identify new and reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Coordinating with warehouse leadership to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Performs other purchasing or inventory control duties as necessary or as requested

Requirements

What You will Need to be Successful

  • WMS / ERP Inventory Management Software preferred
  • Knowledge of Purchasing Processes
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Creative Problem-Solving Skills
  • Attention to Detail with strong Documentation and Organizational skills
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Self-Motivated to look at Situations/Processes and have an innate desire to make them better.
  • You are a Team Player, who loves to Brainstorm with others to gain Perspective and Insight, working on projects or tech issues Collaboratively with your Colleagues.
  • A Customer Service-Oriented Mindset where helping others gives you a sense of Accomplishment and Pride.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods to perform computer and telephone-based tasks
  • Must be able to operate a computer/telephone and keyboard. Close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, verbal and written
  • Can-do Attitude and a willingness to learn
