Position: Junior HR Generalist (Job id – 3336091)

Location: Los Angeles CA 90024 (Hybrid work schedule, onsite every Tuesday and Thursday, as well as every other Friday)

Duration: 3 Months + Possible Extension

Shift Timings: Monday-Friday, 8-5 Pacific

  • Responsibilities include reviewing, approving, and auditing HR transactions, leading audit readiness and compliance activities, maintaining HR data integrity, resolving complex employee and departmental inquiries, developing training materials and job aids, and establishing documentation and quality standards.
  • The position utilizes systems including UCPath, ServiceNow, Avature, Salesforce, and RASC interfaces to ensure data accuracy, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and effective service delivery.
  • The HR Generalist 3 partners with HR Service Center teams, Centers of Excellence, UCPath, HR Business Partners, Compliance, and system partners to resolve issues, identify risks, implement process improvements, and enhance service quality and the employee experience.



Department Summary



The Human Resources Service Center supports employees, leadership, and departments by delivering consistent, compliant, and customer focused HR services.

The Service Center operates in a shared services environment and partners with Workforce Administration, Position Management, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, and Compliance to ensure accurate HR operations and service excellence.



Essential Functions


1. HR Transaction Processing & Case Management (25%)

Review, approve, and oversee HR transactions across the employee lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with UC policies, collective bargaining agreements, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.

Manage complex and escalated HR cases in ServiceNow.

Conduct quality assurance reviews and post transaction audits.

Monitor pending transactions, identify trends and risks, and provide guidance to staff.

Escalate significant issues to leadership when appropriate.


2. HR Data Integrity & Systems Management (25%)

Provide subject matter expertise for employee, position, and HR data.

Support and oversee data governance across HR systems.

Conduct root cause analysis for recurring data discrepancies and system issues.

Coordinate issue resolution with UCPath, CRU, RASC, and other stakeholders.

Maintain audit readiness and data integrity standards.

Develop and maintain documentation and approval standards.


3. HR Compliance, Files & Audit Readiness (25%)

Lead internal and external HR audits.

Oversee employee file maintenance and auditing activities.

Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Serve as the primary contact for HR audit inquiries.

Analyze findings and track corrective actions.

Identify compliance gaps and recommend improvements.

Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, desk guides, and standard operating procedures.

Train HR staff and provide ongoing guidance.

Serve as a subject matter expert for complex compliance and operational issues.


4. Employee & Department Support / Service Delivery (10%)

Provide HR consultation and guidance to employees, managers, departments, and HR partners.

Respond to inquiries through ServiceNow, phone, email, and escalations.

Act as a liaison between employees, leadership, and HR teams.

Translate policies and procedures into clear guidance.

Deliver professional, customer focused service in a high volume environment.


5. Process Improvement, Special Projects & Operational Excellence (15%)

Analyze workflows, transaction outcomes, audit results, and case trends.

Identify operational risks and process improvement opportunities.

Lead or support special projects and pilot initiatives.

Recommend and implement process improvements and standardization efforts.

Support cross training and operational continuity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.



Experience Requirements



  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in HR operations, shared services, workforce administration, position management, benefits, or employee services.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with HRIS and case management systems such as UCPath, PeopleSoft, or ServiceNow.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting HR compliance, audits, or HR file management.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience collaborating with HR stakeholders such as UCPath Center and RASC.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting special projects, process improvements, or system implementations in an HR shared services environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting high volume HR operations within an academic medical center or large, complex organization.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Comprehensive knowledge of UCPath, PeopleSoft, ServiceNow, or similar HR systems.
  • Knowledge of UC policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and HR compliance requirements.
  • Ability to process and audit HR transactions accurately.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, audit documentation, and training materials.
  • Strong customer service skills in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, managers, HR colleagues, and business partners.
  • Ability to analyze HR transactions, cases, and audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Sound judgment in applying policies and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet service level expectations.
  • Ability to identify workflow improvements and support operational excellence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
