Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of new construction and retrofit projects across commercial and residential environments within approximately a 50‑mile radius of Indianapolis. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems on high‑end residential homes and professional office spaces, taking projects from rough‑in through final finish. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will also provide on‑site leadership to other electricians and help ensure work meets quality, safety, and code standards.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to various new construction sites in both commercial and residential settings within the Indianapolis area and surrounding 50‑mile radius.
  • Perform electrical work on high‑end luxury residential homes, including rough‑in and finish work.
  • Complete electrical installations and retrofits in commercial office environments, including Class A office projects, retail spaces, and tenant finish projects.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, lighting, motors, heating equipment, and building automation systems.
  • Run and terminate Romex and MC cable in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications.
  • Install and service 277V lighting systems and lighting control systems across various project types.
  • Perform rough‑in work such as setting boxes, running conduit and cable, and preparing systems for inspection and final connection.
  • Execute finish work including installing outlets, switches, fixtures, and final device trims to a high standard of quality.
  • Participate in retrofit projects and SME (small and medium enterprise) field work as required by project scope.
  • Work on street lighting systems as needed, including installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from electrical schematics and blueprints to complete installations accurately.
  • Lead and guide other electricians on site, providing direction, support, and quality oversight as a Journeyman.
  • Collaborate with project teams to meet schedules, coordinate tasks, and ensure work aligns with construction timelines.
  • Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician performing installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Strong ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, lighting, motors, heating equipment, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Hands‑on experience with lighting systems and lighting control systems, including 277V lighting installations.
  • Proficiency running and working with Romex and MC cable.
  • Experience performing both rough‑in and finish electrical work on construction projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead and direct other electricians on site.
  • Experience working on retrofit projects and tenant finish work in commercial environments.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standard construction practices.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently.

Work Environment

This position is field‑based, working primarily on active construction sites within the Indianapolis market and up to roughly 50 miles beyond. You will spend most of your time on new construction and retrofit projects in high‑end residential homes, Class A office spaces, retail environments, tenant finish areas, and other commercial settings. The work involves using standard electrical tools, running Romex and MC cable, installing 277V lighting and lighting control systems, and working around building automation and mechanical equipment. Hours typically follow standard construction schedules and may require flexibility to meet project deadlines. The environment is fast‑paced and safety‑oriented, with a focus on neat, code‑compliant installations and professional conduct on site. Appropriate construction attire and personal protective equipment are required in accordance with job‑site safety standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.
