Job Title: Janitorial Lead
Job Description

This role supports janitorial and lab operations with a strong emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and accurate documentation. The position is designed to develop the successful candidate into a future lead, working closely with site leadership and lab personnel in a professional, lab-adjacent environment. The ideal candidate is sharp, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with technical staff while maintaining high standards of facility cleanliness and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily janitorial and lab-support cleaning tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility.
  • Wash, clean, and maintain lab glassware and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assemble tubing kits and other basic lab-support items as needed to support lab operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all assigned work areas, storage spaces, and common areas.
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) using a computer and update documentation as required.
  • Compose and send professional emails to communicate with lab personnel and site leadership.
  • Support audits on the janitorial side by preparing documentation, demonstrating processes, and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Gradually take on leadership responsibilities, including helping coordinate cleaning tasks and supporting audit readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with site leadership and lab personnel to understand needs, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Learn and apply SOP documentation practices and audit preparation requirements as part of the development path into a Lead / HL position.
  • Build strong communication skills with lab teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and effective collaboration.
Essential Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability in completing cleaning and support tasks.
  • Comfort working in a lab-adjacent environment and following cleanliness and safety expectations.
  • Basic computer skills, including using email, creating and updating documentation, and working with SOPs.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with lab staff and site leadership.
  • Willingness to learn and progressively take on leadership responsibilities over time.
  • Experience in janitorial, custodial, or industrial cleaning roles.
  • Background in general labor or manufacturing environments that involve routine tasks and adherence to procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial cleaning or facility maintenance in a manufacturing or lab-support setting.
  • Prior janitorial or custodian experience in a professional or industrial environment.
  • Comfort assembling basic components such as tubing kits or similar items.
  • Interest in developing into a Lead or HL position with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly work areas and documentation.

Work Environment

The position operates in a professional facility that supports laboratory operations, working in a lab-adjacent environment rather than directly in the lab. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing a regular daytime shift. Work involves performing janitorial and industrial cleaning tasks, maintaining lab glassware and equipment, and assembling tubing kits, using standard janitorial tools, cleaning supplies, and basic computer systems for email and documentation. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to SOPs, with close collaboration alongside lab personnel and site leadership in a structured, process-driven setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vacaville, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
