As the ITTI Care Project Advisor (Project Coordinator) within the Center for Child & Family Policy, you’ll be part of a missiondriven team dedicated to improving outcomes for young children and families across North Carolina. In this role, you’ll use your coaching expertise and deep knowledge of early childhood development to influence meaningful, systemslevel change. Through a “coachthecoach” model, you’ll support early care and education professionals as they integrate traumainformed approaches, reflective supervision, and wellnessfocused practices into their work with infants, toddlers, and families. Your work will help advance workforce resilience, organizational health, and highquality care for children under age three.

What You’ll Do:

Develop & Facilitate Training

Cofacilitate virtual and inperson trainings on traumainformed child care for diverse audiences. Contribute to curriculum development, participant registration, feedback collection, and evaluation of training outcomes and impact.

Lead Learning Communities & Engagement

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate virtual Communities of Practice and Professional Learning Communities, including SocialEmotional Connections groups. Support inperson engagement opportunities such as “Day Away Together” events for coaches, administrators, and participating centers.

Provide Coaching & Practice Support

Apply IECMH Consultation Competencies, PracticeBased Coaching, Motivational Interviewing, and Reflective Supervision frameworks to guide coaching and training practices and support integration into program delivery.

Support Project Implementation

Collaborate with project team members to support implementation, continuous quality improvement, and expansion of ITTI Care activities. Communicate regularly regarding progress, barriers, and proposed solutions.

Document & Report Outcomes

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using established templates, procedures, and reporting requirements to support tracking and evaluation.

Outreach, Communications & Resources

Assist with publicfacing materials, project webpages, and outreach efforts. Support recruitment for learning collaborative cohorts and dissemination of project activities, findings, and recommendations.

Serve as an Advisor

Participate as an active member of the ITTI Care Advisory Group, contributing guidance, feedback, and strategic insight

What You’ll Bring

Education

Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related field required, with substantial coursework or training in traumainformed practice and/or early childhood mental health.

Master’s degree in a related field preferred.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience coaching and/or providing reflective supervision to early care and education coaches.

Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering coaching or Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) consultation to teachers of children under age five.

General knowledge of research methods and social science research practices, typically gained through 1 year of relevant research experience.

Preferred experience includes serving as a child care center director and/or as an early childhood mental health classroom consultant.

Skills & Attributes

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.

Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and inclusive practice.

Extensive knowledge of highquality infant/toddler care and developmentally appropriate practice for children under age three.

Experience with reflective supervision, motivational interviewing, and the Pyramid Model.

Familiarity with Infant & Toddler CLASS, TPITOS/TPOT, and environmental rating scales (ITERS, ECERS).

Strong skills as a trainer, presenter, and coach/technical assistant.

Endorsement in Infant or Early Childhood Mental Health and eligibility for Level 11 on the NC Early Educator Certification Scale are preferred.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
