Description

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day help desk and technical support to end users. This role is primarily focused on IT support functions (approximately 70%), with additional responsibilities (30%) that include field work such as cabling, equipment installation, and on-site technical support.

The position supports both desk-based and hands-on technical activities, including troubleshooting, system setup, and user assistance across a variety of IT environments.

  • Provide IT support for desktops, laptops, printers, IP phones, and other peripherals
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Respond to help desk requests and support users both remotely and in person
  • Set up and configure workstations, user accounts, and equipment
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting (IP addressing, switches, connectivity)
  • Document issues, resolutions, and procedures clearly and consistently
  • Assist with administration of systems, networks, and user environments
  • Support and maintain technologies such as Active Directory, VMware, and Microsoft systems
  • Research, test, and assist with implementation of new IT solutions
  • Train and support end users as needed
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively across departments
  • Run and terminate Ethernet/network cabling
  • Assist with installation of network equipment and switches
  • Support setup of IP cameras, NVR systems, and AV equipment
  • Travel to local offices and occasional remote locations, including overnight travel as needed

Requirements


Required Qualifications
  • Experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking
  • Knowledge of Windows OS, PC hardware, and Microsoft Office
  • Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, switches, connectivity)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in IT, computer networking, or related field
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
  • Experience with Active Directory or VMware
  • Experience with structured cabling or low-voltage systems
  • Familiarity with IP cameras, NVR systems, or AV equipment
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Mix of desk work and physical tasks (equipment installation, cabling)
  • Work in office and occasional industrial environments
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and on elevated equipment such as scissor lifts and boom lifts, as needed
