MajorDuties

  • Duties for the IT Specialist (DATAMGT) GS-2210-12 include but not limited to: Supports the design and implementation of data pipelines for collecting, storing, and processing data from various sources, including CMS's Integrated Data Repository and HHS OIG's Data Workbench. IT Specialists will be able to develop processes using existing tools in the HHS OIG environment to extract raw data from these different sources, transform it into a usable format, and make the data available for to use for analytic projects. Supports data analysts throughout the agency by partnering with them to create and maintain new data services and products, such as the Shared Analytic Library. Participates in the design of a metadata process for use in reporting, analysis, and data access. Supports the organization in acquiring new data sets to support audits, investigations, and evaluations. Defines processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data. Improves opportunities for enterprise sharing of data and data integration; improve internal access to data to increase the speed of decision making. Work within teams to develop appropriate documentation, data models, metadata repositories, and other data management tools. Supports OIG's efforts to track data inventories and collections, data purchases, databases, conceptual/logical/physical data models, and linkages between datasets. Assists team members in carrying out a broad range of work to critically analyze, synthesize, and report data and findings to satisfy the data provisioning and ad hoc analysis requests from each of the OIG components.
