Job Description
The Inventory Audit Specialist / Quality Analyst – Inventory & Materials Control ensures the accuracy, quality, and traceability of materials issued from the warehouse to the manufacturing floor in a high-volume production environment. This role focuses on validating work order material requests, monitoring replenishment triggers, and confirming correct backfill of materials to work centers. It is a critical process-improvement position with strong potential for long-term growth as the organization continues its ERP and Warehouse Management System (WMS) transition.
Responsibilities
- Analyze all materials issued from the warehouse to the manufacturing floor for accuracy against work orders.
- Review and validate material requests moving from the stockroom to the production floor to ensure completeness and correctness.
- Ensure all material replenishment processes related to combine scans are active and correctly configured prior to work order release.
- Monitor combine card scans that trigger material issuance and confirm that materials are backfilled correctly to the appropriate work centers.
- Verify the accuracy of part numbers, lot numbers, serial numbers, and quantities requested versus quantities issued.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies that impact production, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse, production, and materials teams to maintain inventory accuracy and adherence to established processes.
- Support internal audits related to inventory, materials control, and manufacturing operations, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Leverage ERP and WMS tools to track, analyze, and reconcile inventory movements and work order transactions.
- Use data analysis and Excel-based reporting to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process optimization in inventory and materials management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of scalable manufacturing and materials-control processes that support ongoing growth.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality standards and documentation requirements within the manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in inventory control, materials management, or a closely related function in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience in manufacturing operations, ideally in aerospace, automotive, defense, medical, or other high-compliance industries.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, including strong ERP navigation and transaction skills.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for managing inventory, stock movements, and work-in-process materials.
- Proven inventory audit experience with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Solid understanding of bills of materials (BOM) and their use in manufacturing and work order execution.
- Experience working with work orders, including validation of material requirements and issuance.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret large material datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Experience in internal auditing, process auditing, or quality auditing related to inventory and materials control.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement within manufacturing or warehouse operations.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence cross-functional teams in warehouse, production, and materials.
- Knowledge of logistics and materials management principles, including inventory control and replenishment.
- Proficiency with Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
- Not open to entry-level candidates; prior hands-on experience is required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in logistics or materials management is highly beneficial.
- Inventory analysis experience, including root-cause investigation and corrective action planning.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and analysis of large material datasets.
- AS9100 experience preferred but not required.
- Prior exposure to manufacturing environments such as automotive, medical device (light), aerospace, or defense is strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP and WMS platforms; experience with tools similar to Odoo is advantageous.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with warehouse, production, and materials teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Interest in mission-oriented work and in supporting modern, scalable manufacturing processes for complex products.
Work Environment
This role operates in a high-volume manufacturing environment with close interaction between warehouse, production, and materials teams. You will work extensively with modern ERP and Warehouse Management System tools, as well as Excel, to manage and analyze inventory and work order data. The position is primarily aligned with second shift, typically 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday on a 4x10 schedule. Overtime is available but not mandatory, the occasional Friday shift will be needed! Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
