Position Summary
Internship Coordinator & Success Coach is responsible for the overall coordination and success of the Department of Health and Sports Sciences.
This Internship Coordinator & Success Coach will consult, collaborate and plan activities with the department’s chair, faculty members, students, and external partners to facilitate effective learning experiences. The Internship Coordinator & Success Coach will communicate effectively with students and respond to their needs and concerns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Internship Coordination & Data Management: Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities, community organizations, fitness centers, and other agencies to expand experiential learning opportunities. Coordinate and oversee student internships, practicums, and field experiences to ensure alignment with academic, accreditation, and licensing standards. Advise and assist students in identifying, applying for, and completing placements aligned with their academic and career goals. Facilitate communication among students, faculty, and internship sites to ensure all documentation, schedules, and onboarding requirements are met. Maintain and update databases (e.g., Excel, Typhon) to track student placements, medical compliance, site evaluations, and employer feedback. Review and manage site approvals, preceptor qualifications, contracts, and affiliation agreements to ensure program quality and compliance. Collect, analyze, and report program data for assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement while ensuring confidentiality and data security.
Students Success Provide academic and career advising to Health and Sports Sciences students, helping them plan coursework, experiential learning, and professional pathways aligned with degree requirements and goals. Monitor student progress, provide mentorship, and connect students with academic and personal support resources to enhance retention and graduation rates. Serve as the CHP liaison with Admissions office, the Student Success Center, and the Center for Career and Professional Development. Represent the department at student recruitment, orientation, and admissions events to provide information about program offerings, internship opportunities, and student success resources. Collaborate with faculty to integrate experiential learning components into course curricula and program outcomes. Plan and deliver workshops, seminars, and presentations on career readiness, professional conduct, résumé preparation, and interview techniques.
Administrative Duties: Support departmental events such as orientation, career fairs, internship expos, guest speaker sessions, and recognition ceremonies. Participate in department meetings and committees. Assist the department chair to manage the budget, process invoices, purchase requisitions, and track payments for all student success and internship related activities. Stay current on industry trends, certification requirements, and workforce developments within health, wellness, and sport disciplines. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for a diverse student population.

Physical Requirement

Salary/Pay Information
Commensurate with experience.
