About The Role
Our firm is seeking an International Transportation Operations Specialist to support a global manufacturing and technology organization operating within a highly regulated, international supply chain environment. This role focuses on international transportation operations and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across global markets. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systems-savvy, and comfortable collaborating with both internal partners and external logistics providers.
Job Description
The International Transportation Operations Specialist will provide day-to-day support for international transportation operations, with a primary focus on air and ocean freight activities. This role involves shipment planning, execution, issue resolution, and data accuracy across systems and partners.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting international transportation operations, including air and ocean shipments
- Tracking and resolving EDI failures at the order level with international freight forwarders
- Creating and planning shipments within transportation management systems
- Editing shipments, including adding or removing orders and managing carrier or vessel changes
- Monitoring and managing aging freight (e.g., cargo delivered but not yet planned for export, or cargo booked but not shipped)
- Identifying and resolving documentation discrepancies, including master data issues
- Managing and maintaining air and ocean rate sheets within transportation management systems
- Providing support on additional transportation and logistics-related tasks as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of international transportation operations
- Experience collaborating with international freight forwarders
- Comfort working within ERP systems, particularly SAP (S/4HANA preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- High attention to detail and strong data accuracy skills
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-starter mindset with a proactive, “go-getter” approach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting air and ocean freight transportation
- Exposure to transportation management systems (TMS)
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes
- Experience supporting global or multi-region supply chains
