Recreation Aide (Part-Time) – Children’s Center

The Town of Corte Madera's Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce an internal recruitment for a part-time Recreation Aide to support the 2026 summer childcare programs and Children’s Center after-school program for the 2026–2027 school year.

Department
The Parks and Recreation Department’s mission is to create community through people, parks, and programs. The Department provides a wide range of year-round recreational programs, classes, sports leagues, camps, and community events serving residents of all ages.
Position
Under direct supervision, the Recreation Aide supports the daily operations of childcare programs at Town facilities. This entry-level position assists in creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and develop positive social skills.

- Assist with supervision of children in preschool, after-school, or camp programs.
- Support structured activities including games, arts and crafts, and recreational play.
- Assist with sign-in/out procedures and attendance tracking.
- Promote positive behavior and ensure program safety standards are followed.
- Communicate courteously with parents and guardians under the direction of program staff.
- Assist in the preparation, organization, and implementation of recreation programs, classes, and community events.
- Monitor activities to ensure participant safety and adherence to program rules and procedures.
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of program areas, equipment, tables, chairs, and supplies.
- Provide customer service to program participants and the general public.
- Maintain attendance logs, sign-in/out sheets, and basic program records.
- Assist with routine facility support tasks including organizing equipment and maintaining safe program environments.
- Report accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to supervisory staff.
- Perform duties as a Designated Disaster Service Worker in accordance with California law.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of
- Basic recreation activities and youth supervision techniques.

- Safety practices related to recreational activities.

- Lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds
Required Conditions of Employment:The required conditions of employment include, but are not limited to the following:- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must be able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of appointment.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment background check to includefingerprinting and Child Abuse Index check.
- Tuberculosis Clearance and satisfactory Health Screening.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Experience:- Town of Corte Madera Counselor in Training (CIT)
- Customer service experience is desirable.
Education:- CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
