The purpose of this internship is to support the Office of Management and Budget in reviewing, analyzing, and updating existing fiscal and administrative policies to ensure compliance with recommended Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)’s best practices. The position is designed to provide college students with practical experience in the public budgeting process, including exposure to policy evaluation, budget development, and organizational financial management. Interns will contribute to ongoing improvement efforts while gaining meaningful insight into the operations and responsibilities of a professional budget office.

Assist in policy review and compliance analysis. Support the evaluation of existing fiscal, administrative, and operational policies to determine alignment with recommended Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) best practices.

Conduct research on budgeting standards and best practices. Gather and summarize information on public-sector budgeting trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to inform policy updates and process improvements.

Participate in meetings and Work Sessions. Attend internal meetings, budget work sessions, and training opportunities to gain exposure to the budget cycle and contribute observations.

Completes data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper formatting across all databases and tracking systems.

Creates and/or updates PowerPoint presentations to support meetings, reports, and project communication using appropriate templates and formatting.

Perform administrative support and project-based tasks as assigned.

Must be enrolled, or graduated in less than one year, from a higher education organization (university, college, or technical institute).

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.


Must be proficient in Business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic, along with modern office practices and procedures, including record keeping methods.


Must be able to compose effective and accurate correspondence.


Must possess the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers and at all levels of the organization.


Must be skilled in written and verbal communication.


Must be proficient with personal computer and general office equipment such as fax, copier, 10 key calculator, and printers.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and other related software is required. Persons with experience in SharePoint are preferred.

All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.

Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
