We are set apart by our intensive focus on college preparedness, ensuring that our mainly minority and low-income students gain not only admission to college but also the persistence skills to flourish in and graduate from college in four years. We opened our second High School in 2021, a milestone which set into motion our plans to build out our College Access and Preparedness capability at the Network-level.
The HSCAP summer intern will have the unique experience to play an integral role in supporting flagship programs at a highly ambitious and successful education-focused organization. The intern will receive ongoing training and mentorship through their program. The intern will report to a direct manager who will guide day-to-day work, help identify project goals, and support professional development. The intern will focus on key college preparedness initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Support in the administration of several key scholarship programs available to Success Academy Alumni Association members;
Meet with external pre-college partners to share updates on scholar participation;
Provide on-site support for a 3-week summer coding enrichment program (part of the SA Summer Experience portfolio);
Support HSCAP and Family Engagement Teams with high school retention initiatives throughout the summer, including direct scholar and family outreach;
Refine the application process for SA Ambassadors, in advance of launching the program in SY22-23 to recruit new ambassadors;
Advise on broader high school retention design and other scholar preparedness initiatives as applicable.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate program at a four-year university;
Deeply values-aligned to our approach to expanding college access and graduation for low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented scholars in the most selective spheres of higher education;
High level of professionalism and organization;
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to multi-task and shift priorities;
Eagerness to learn and unafraid to ask questions;
Proficiency in Google Suite.
Hours & Salary:
This is a paid opportunity from June to August, with a minimum commitment of 4 weeks. A minimum of 30 hours a week is required. This position will be located at the organization's Central Network Office.
Estimated compensation range: $15-$18/hour, depending on intern's level of experience
Compensation:
Hourly: $15.00 - exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
