Midland Center for the Arts Position Description Midland Center for the Arts Midland, MI Position Title: Intermediate Ceramics Studio School Instructor Supervisor: Fine Arts Programing Manager Classification: Part Time Casual , up to 19 hours per week Hourly Wage : $20.00 per hour Position Concept: The main role of the Studio School Instructor is seeing that students have an enjoyable, educational and creative experience while taking classes at Midland Center for the Arts. The Studio School Instructor will teach classes and/or workshops in their resp ective field, create engaging curriculum for various skill levels, and participate in general studio maintenance. Studio School Instructors also assist in Studio School events such as Art Fairs/Sales, community benefits, art demos at the Center, and the Bi annual Faculty and Student show. Duties and Responsibilities for Studio School Instruc tor • Create positive learning environment for students of all ages. • Create engaging skill level appropriate curriculum for their workshops and/or classes. • Work together with other studio members to maintain the studio space and coordinate curriculum with other instructors of the same medium. • Treat students with utmost respect and help them to meet their goals as best as possible . • Complete required Center staff training . • Maintain inventory needed for classes and communicate supply needs to supervisor according to Supplies and Purchases policy. Qualifications: • Display expert knowledge in ceramics, particularly in wheel thrown pottery. • Is an artist who has shown their work in galleries. • Candidates shall possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills . • Has the ability to work in a dynamic environment. • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, and a desire to work with people across many lines of difference . • Must have the ability to interact with diverse audiences and age groups to help facilitate activities and programs. • Ability to work weekends and evenings. Education and Experience Requirements: • Has a BFA and/or at least 6 years of studying and/or working in the arts community. • Has extensive knowledge and experience in Ceramics • Has shown their artwork in galleries. • Has previous teaching experienc e.
