Role Overview

The Outpatient Nursing Services (OPNS) Program Manager is a hybrid leadership and clinical role. You will directly supervise a tight-knit team of 2 to 3 specialists while driving the operational, financial, and strategic success of the department. This position sits within nursing leadership tier, contributing to hospital-wide administrative on-call rotations. The ideal candidate balances a deep commitment to exceptional patient care with robust administrative capabilities.


Primary Goals

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small, dedicated clinical team.
  • Program Growth: Expand service lines across Oncology, Infusion, and Wound Care.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Secure absolute adherence to state and federal healthcare mandates.
  • Fiscal Accountability: Oversee annual capital budgets and daily revenue cycles.


Core Responsibilities

Clinical Strategy & Operations

  • Design and update operational policies to reflect cutting-edge evidence-based practices.
  • Spearhead specialized program design for oncology, systemic infusions, and wound therapies.
  • Oversee complex department workflows including insurance pre-authorizations, medical coding, and billing integrity.


Relationship Management & Outreach

  • Drive marketing and outreach initiatives to boost provider referrals and patient acquisition.
  • Establish strong collaborative networks with internal medical staff and external community physicians.
  • Deliver comprehensive educational programming for patients, families, and caregivers post-discharge.



Position Requirements


Mandatory Credentials

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent RN clinical experience, specifically including 2+ years dedicated strictly to Oncology nursing.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Utah.
  • Certifications: Active ONS certification, plus current BLS and ACLS credentials.


Technical & Soft Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency navigating advanced Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms.
  • Proven history in supervisory, charge nurse, or medical leadership roles.
  • Superior emotional intelligence to manage high-stress medical environments and sensitive data confidentially.


Preferred Assets

  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) designation.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) designation.
