Interim Nonprofit Controller

A great client at UHY is seeking a Controller. The ideal candidate will have nonprofit accounting experience, strong financial reporting expertise, and experience leading accounting teams.


The Controller role is a hybrid position, with 3 days each week being onsite. This is a contract position with the potential of going permanent.


Controller Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for programs and affiliated entities
  • Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership and key stakeholders
  • Establish and monitor financial goals to ensure organizational strength, compliance, and efficiency
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, external partners, and stakeholders including banks, vendors, and funders
  • Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring effective operations and performance
  • Adapt financial strategies to support a dynamic and evolving environment

Controller Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience as a Controller or in a similar leadership role
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector strongly preferred
  • Experience managing a team of 8+ employees
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
