Minimum Requirements:

  • Kentucky pharmacist license required.
  • Experience with pharmacy set-up and clean-up required.
  • Experience preferred in inpatient settings.
  • Experience preferred with Omnicell automation and HCS order entry system. Training available for HCS and Omnicell.
  • Experience working in behavioral health settings preferred (all ages).
  • Experience with order verification and inventory control preferred.
  • Ability to complete required pre-employment site credentials: background check, drug screen, HIPAA training, review and attest to CPS code of conduct, TB testing, flu vaccination, documentation of initial COVID-19 series, and valid driver’s license for KY Child Abuse/Neglect (CAN) check. Assignment Details:

  • Facility type: Hospital.
  • Position: Director of Pharmacy plus acting PIC until permanent hire.
  • Shift: Days.
  • Shift days and hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm.
  • Weekend coverage may be needed beginning May 30: Saturday and Sunday 8:00am–12:00pm plus on-call; facility is attempting to cover internally.
  • Start/End dates of coverage: May 4 – June 19; end date may change depending on permanent hire process.
  • Site will provide training for HCS (EMR), Omnicell, and site-specific ordering software.
  • Tech support responsibilities include inventory control, stocking Omnicell, and ordering inventory.
  • Candidate may be required to float to other facilities if requested by the client.

The area features the National Corvette Museum and Historic Railpark, both situated downtown and within a short commute of the hospital campus, supporting an urban-suburban lifestyle with recreational and cultural options. The city offers boating and waterfront recreation at nearby Barren River Lake State Resort Park (about 30 minutes), a moderate cost of living compared with major metropolitan areas, and a balance of quiet residential neighborhoods and local dining and entertainment districts suited for clinicians seeking a suburban lifestyle with occasional urban access.


Job Details and Site Background:

  • Licensed beds: 105. Average daily census: 90.
  • Site specialty: Behavioral health services for all ages.
  • Current site status: operating via Omnicare with twice-daily med deliveries and transitioning to an in-house pharmacy.
  • Primary responsibilities: complete pharmacy site setup, configure HCS, build Omnicell cabinets, support Go-Live activities, perform order verification, manage inventory control, participate in hospital meetings, and update policies.
  • Sterile compounding not required.
  • Staffing: currently no on-site pharmacy staff; tech and PRN pharmacist roles are being recruited internally.
  • Dress code: business casual; scrub color to be determined.
  • Nearest major airports: Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY.
