Interim Budget & Grants Analyst

Scion Nonprofit Staffing is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to identify an Interim Budget & Grants Analyst to support a critical period of financial operations and systems transition. This is a full-time, remote, contract role & will play a key part in strengthening budgeting processes, supporting grant financial management, and acting as a liaison between finance and system implementation teams during an ERP transition.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This temp-to-hire position plays a key role in donor stewardship, fundraising operations, and administrative support while helping strengthen long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and oversight of organizational and program-specific budgets, including government-funded grants and contracts.
  • Support forecasting activities, including reforecasts, variance analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Ensure alignment between budget structures, funding requirements, and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Prepare financial analyses and reporting to support leadership decision-making.
  • Provide additional capacity during peak cycles, including fiscal year-end.
  • Act as a finance liaison during the transition from a legacy accounting system to NetSuite.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external implementation partners to support system configuration and adoption.
  • Assist with chart of accounts redesign, fund/grant tracking structure, and financial data integrity.
  • Participate in data cleanup, migration readiness, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and key decision points, escalating as needed to finance leadership.
  • Support go-live readiness and post-implementation stabilization efforts.
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for budgeting and accounting workflows.
  • Update documentation to reflect new system processes and configurations.

Qualifications:
  • 5–10+ years of experience in nonprofit finance, with a focus on grants and budgeting.
  • Strong experience managing government-funded grants and contract budgets.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience supporting ERP or accounting system implementations from a finance perspective.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite required (or strong experience with similar systems and transition exposure).

Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with fund accounting and grant compliance/reporting.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This role offers a competitive rate of $45-$55/hour depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
