Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a full-time Interim Assistant General Counsel, Litigation (3 Days Hybrid, Atlanta). 4+ Months.
Overview: Our client is seeking a full-time Interim Assistant General Counsel, Litigation (3 Days Hybrid, Atlanta) for 40 hours per week. This position serves as supervisory litigation counsel for our client with responsibility for managing the enterprise-wide litigation docket, including both insured and uninsured legal disputes, and for providing legal advice on pre-litigation disputes and internal and external investigations. This position is in the Legal Department and works closely with the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel, the Senior Leadership Team, the Enterprise Risk Department, the Accounting Department, the Company’s internal and external auditors, and others across the Company to mitigate litigation and other legal risk. This position will also work with others within the Legal and Compliance organizations to advise the company on cyber security, antitrust, and safety and trucking matters.

Experience:
- 8+ years’ experience in litigation with emphasis on trucking matters, cyber security, antitrust, and safety.
- Experience handling and resolving complex litigation matters.
- Ability to write effectively and to draft and edit complex legal pleadings.
- Ability to effectively present information to senior management.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers, and the community.
- Ability to build relationships, openly share knowledge, and effectively collaborate with business units, other in-house attorneys, and outside counsel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Location: 3 Days per week Hybrid in Atlanta, Georgia (near Smyrna Vinings).Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays in Office
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide legal advice and services to the Office of the General Counsel, the Senior Leadership Team and leaders across the Company on all single party and class action litigation, dispute management, and government investigation matters, including reporting and advising on current litigation matters and future litigation risks.
- Advise Enterprise Risk Department on safety, auto, and trucking regulations.
- Devise and participate in litigation strategy decisions, including counseling related to settlements, budgeting, and claims management.
- Oversee management of outside counsel in insured and uninsured litigation, including strategy decisions, pleadings, billings, and all other aspects of outside firms’ relationships with the Company.
- Lead internal response to government investigations including document collection and responses, including hiring and managing outside counsel when necessary.
- Work with Legal Department and Senior Leadership Team to implement and maintain comprehensive litigation management strategies for the enterprise and to prepare litigation reports for the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel, the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Committees and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Advise the Information Security Department on legal requirements pertaining to data security and cyber risks and participate in data security-related investigations and annual risk assessments.
- Work with Legal, Compliance, and corporate management to implement and maintain an antitrust compliance program across business and advise on antitrust matters.
- Support the Legal Department on legal matters beyond operations (e.g., contract review, employment matters, litigation, etc.) as needed and requested by the Deputy General Counsel
Qualifications Include:
- 8+ years litigation experience
- J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
- Ability to visit office in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (Near Vinings, Smyrna area).
